Radar Speed Sign Installed on Route 250
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (NEWSPLEX) — A new radar speed sign along Route 250 East is catching the eye of drivers.
City officials say the sign was installed Monday at the request of Birdwood neighborhood residents.
Birdwood residents say the construction on the bypass, and the new ramp, makes it hard for them to get out of their neighborhood. They also have raised safety concerns to the Charlottesville City Council.
The new sign displays a car’s speed as it travels down the ramp on 250 East onto McIntire Road, near Hillcrest Road.
Although the speed on Route 250 is 35 miles per hour, city officials recommend driving slower than that.
The entire bypass project will be complete in early July.
